Germantown swept both games of a doubleheader against Wauwatosa West, winning both games 19-0 in 5 innings. The wins move Germantown to 7-1 in the GMC (9-2 overall), tied with Menomonee Falls for 1st place.
Kendal Thomas got the win in game 1, pitching 3 shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit, and striking out 4. She is 3-1 on the season. Freshmen pitcher Ella Saltarekos saw her first action in the circle, pitching the final 2 innings without allowing a base runner and striking out 3.
Sophomore Alaina Williams pitched a complete-game shutout in game two, notching her first varsity win. She pitched 5 innings, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 7.
On the day, offensive leaders for the Warhawks included:
• Junior SS Kayla Preiss was 5-6 with 2 3B, 3 BB, 7 RBI and 4 runs scored
• Senior CF Maddy Balsiger was 4-4 with 2B, 5 BB, 3 RBI, 7 runs scored and 5 SB
• Sophomore Addy Johnson was 3-3 with HR, 4 RBI. Her HR was inside-the-park in game 1 and was her first varsity HR.
• Junior IF Julia Sina was 3-4 with 2B, 3B, and 5 runs
• Freshmen catcher Kennedy Bennett was 2-3, 2 2B, and 5 RBI
• Sophomore Alaina Williams was 2-3 with 2 RBI
• Senior OF Madison Preiss was 2-4 with 2B 2 RBI and 2 runs scored
